How about doing real testing at a range, where people can reasonably expect real guns with real bullets, and treat them like the deadly weapons they are.
Rhetorical, of course. No way that would fly, since it would slow down the purchasing of guns, and that’s unpossible.
Well, actually, that can and does happen in stores that also have ranges. Though usually it is with a range firearm that can be rented and tried out. Typically if you run a magazines through a new gun, it is then considered “used”.
Dry firing an unloaded firearm in a safe direction is treating them like “deadly weapons”. Dry fire can be a complimentary training technique that translates to range usage later, but can be done at home with out the cost of ammo.
I just never heard of it referred that way!
