I lived 12 miles from a town in OR. on a tree farm. Gunshots were common during the day but disturbing at night. One night they went on for hrs and sounded like automatic weapons. I called the sheriffs who were too afraid to go out there until it calmed down. They told me they had found this fugitive living there with his relatives and that they were mad: shooting snowmen and drinking and that I should only call back after midnight if it didn’t calm down after that.
