Yeah… if you want MY opinion (and I know you do!) the best part of DC in the 80s/90s, was lots of Alan Moore’s stuff and almost anything on Vertigo.
Thank you, I do want your opinion; I shall add it to my own, and be enriched.
I’m a big fan of Alan Moore’s America’s Best Comics. There are so many fun stories in those books.

Better than Cate Blanchett? How many Oscar’s has he won?
Like the source material! If you want the movies to be faithful to the comics you need to have the goofiness - it has been baked into comics since the very beginning!
ETA: @euansmith I loved ABC! Top Ten is probably my favorite between Moore’s excellent writing Gene Ha’s ridiculously detailed renderings it’s is just untouchable. That said, my back tattoo is a two page spread from Promethea!
Right. Everyone knows it’s not a proper disguise unless you’ve got the fake nose and moustache as well.
And missing the point that he needed them both wearing the fetish gear to have an erection. Narratively that’s the real reason they have sex in it.
The squid? I can lose the squid easily thanks.

Added spoiler cos you don’t need to see that at this hour of the morning.
I think Superman’s new power might explain what Jimmy Olsen has been getting up to.
I think you hit upon something there. What we see on the screen is what Zack masturbates to. He’s making porn, not telling stories. Highly polished, lovingly crafted porn, but porn nonetheless. It’s made to arouse. And explains a lot in why he glorifies the stuff Moore and Gibbons wanted us to be repulsed by and cringe at.
Which is where he went wrong with Superman: he was too busy swooning over how Superman has the power to beat up anyone and cause massive property damage to remember what sort of a story Superman fans actually like. In fact, he basically forgot to tell a story at all in any of his DC movies. It was as bad a mistake as letting J J Abrams helm the Star Trek movies.
