Off the top of my head I’d say that 1 out of 5 are/were. Although that doesn’t cover the “Oh. Didn’t see that coming” stuff.

I’m clearing out an attic at the moment and came across a stack of magazines from the mid 1970ies to the mid 1990ies. That covers a period starting with my early teens. When you look back… I had forgotten a lot of issues that were vital at the time.
Well, Mark Twain was right. Predictions are a tricky business, especially about the future.

Not long ago there was a similar discussion on my regular tech site. One of the UNIX greybeards told us that in the 1970ies they used Polaroids. Might have been a west coast thing, though.
