It’s extremely similar to some pitching mechanics.

I’m working on this theory that the best skipping stones always seems to found near bodies of water that are terrible for skipping (too rough) and whereas perfectly still waters never have good stones.
My personal challenge has been to skip stones across the Rondout.

Not gonna lie, that’s a lot cooler than I expected it to be. The videos of his best throws are pretty astonishing.
I gotta up my game here. My best is 7 skips.
I once received a standing ovation (from a bunch of other children) by skipping a stone straight across a river and satisfyingly hit a large rock on the opposite bank…
Yeah, especially where it takes a slightly larger skip, and you think it’s done, then it does another 20 or so…
