Lucent?

Looks about right!

When I went to the other UC (University of Cincinnati), their approach to getting a new logo design was to have each design faculty member offer a suggestion and choose one internally. This made tons of sense in theory, but in practice it showed the value of an outside viewpoint. The head of design’s suggestion, which he pushed hard and was almost adopted, was a box of U’s and C’s typed with a typewriter, so that there’d be no printing costs, and it could be created on the fly by a secretary when needed (this was 1992!).
