The staying power of this game is incredible. I keep coming back to modded minecraft.

Sure the updates are slow, but the fact the game is still being updated at all is fairly unconventional. Developers are more and more adopting this sort of evergreen approach to their games, but there was a time when a game was released and that was what you got unless the game did well enough to justify an expansion pack.
