I get called to stupid meetings all the time, mostly conference calls where they really only need me for about five minutes to talk about my portion of a job. I feel no compunction to be unproductive during the portion where people are not taking about things that affect me at all.

Me too. And I very nearly always take other work to meetings, to muck with during the bits not pertinent to me.

You sound like a old colleague of mine. He would sit down because get could not stand up for so long. Then he would talk the longest of everyone there, totally irrelevant information for the most part. Dude did not understand why we wanted him to stand too…
