Mocking the formula of late night talk shows

I think Oliver would see the humor and appreciate the deeper meaning of the skit.

There are three ways to take this:

  1. Don’t care. [apathetic]

  2. It’s dreck and you should feel bad for being entertained by it. [asshole] vs. Waaaahhh, stop harshing my funnies! [childish]

  3. Haha, it’s funny because it’s true but I’m secure enough in myself not to get offended at a joke about jokes and open-minded enough to realize maybe some real diversity in Late Night TV is a laudable goal. [mature]

I’m confident Oliver is closest to number 3.

Not what is conventionally called a talk show.

Late night talk shows have been going downhill since Steve Allen put on a suit covered with tea bags and had himself dunked in a vat of hot water and lemon slices.

I loved his show… but @anon15383236 is right. Plus, he was in syndication from the start, unlike the talk shows that are on the networks, which are still overwhelmingly white and male.
