More parents deem vaccines "unnecessary"

Apparently I got it in Missouri a month or so ago. It’s pretty extremely unpleasant, even in the localized form, which is much milder and only kills about 1% of sufferers. Opposing muscle cramps really suck, even in the leg where the bones are big enough not to crack.

I was like “what? It can’t be tetanus, I’m not even smiling!” but it turns out there’s more than one pathology.

Upside, I am probably more immune to tetanus now than most immunized people.

Yes, as healthy adult it’s survivable. But not very pleasant. I know after this year. And I was wondering and worried at some point if it was something ‘worse’.
Kid have had also a bit. But the theory of our health person (how do you name over there a person who goes about family health, the first to go to?). Is that the vaccine is not as good as previously, they are working at it, but you still have to get it. And we did, scheduled, I need to mention that for good order.

“Primary Care Physician” (PCP), or just “Family Doctor”

Or General Internist.

I knew healthcare in America was dodgy, but if PCP is your go-to for medical issues, that’s really hardcore. :open_mouth:

Now who wants to visit the States…

I don’t know. I think it’s how you choose to use it. I ignore all political and religious commentary, choosing to go elsewhere for that (like, say, here or other forums where I’m nominally guaranteed intelligent debate), and instead focus on the fact that I’ve re-connected with people I once cared about and strangely, still do. We share pics of kids and other funny quotidian doings and it’s non-threatening and makes us all feel part of something bigger. As long as they are still kind in their interactions, then we can at least share some of the joy and heartbreak of being human together.

Fight the good fight against them! It’s probably won’t make am impact on the people you’re railing, but those that might be on the fence (for whatever reason the Chaos Gods put forward into the mind) might be able to see.

OT: Is the nom de plume Mister44 in tribute/reference to The Electric Hellfire Club track, or is to the IRL Mister 44, Son of Sam - David Berkowitz, I’ve been meaning to ask.

And whitens your teeth as you go.

To be on topic: People sure can be thick.

Best use of apple cider vinegar: add a little water & use it to deglaze the pan after frying pork chops. Add sugar, season & chuck in a little fresh sage. Reduce til sticky & finish with a knob of butter. Pour on pork chops. Eat. The health benefits should become immediately apparent.

Cold!!!

It’s not stupidity, necessarily, but it certainly is the tragedy of the commons.

If only one person does the selfish thing, it’s OK, and so everybody does it, and then it’s very much not OK.

Y’all see it when it’s vaccines, not so much when it’s something you’re doing, like driving gasoline cars or not turning off your computers or buying wireless chargers &etc.

Whenever I point out that most of us are making the same kind of anti-human choices as the anti-vaxxers are, you get all bent out of shape (and usually, call me an anti-vaxxer) but unfortunately it’s still true. Anti-vaxxers are just the poster children for our culture of self-defeating selfishness.

Meanwhile, this popped in my facebook feed the other day. Good thing I don’t take medical advice from facebook.

“perfect”.

As soon as you see that word in relation to medicine without the word “not” in front of it, you can immediately write the whole post off.

Holy crap.

You know, I’ll get a spinal adjustment when I have a vertebra dislocated. I’m not hostile to chiropractors. But obviously they don’t cure bacteria or viruses.. There’s a sucker born every minute, I guess.
