Mothers smile for mugshot photo after arrest for assaulting "too slow" McDonald's worker

As it happens, I’m shopping the used market for a 300mm lens-- thinking of getting an AF-Nikkor 300mm f/4 prime. You wouldn’t have any experience with this lens, would you?

possibly a good way to dull a pair of tailoring shears.

They look like promo shots for their Improv Group.

Is there a link to the actual story aside from the cop shop tweet?

First we complain that mugshots make everyone look guilty, then we complain when people try to look good. While in this particular case I find what they allegedly did disgusting and if they are found guilty I hope they throw the book at 'em, I find it hard to blame anyone in general for trying to look decently human for their mugshot photos, knowing that said photos will be used against them in the Court of Public Opinion. In this case though, of course, it would help them in that Court of Public Opinion if they didn’t go so far as to look positively gleeful.

The book Alcatraz Escape Files has a lot of cool mugshots from the early part of the 20th century. My 7 year old and I have a great time looking through it, determining if someone looks mean or not (they mostly do), and he does math in his head trying to figure out how old the convict would be when released (by adding the age to the sentence length).

No. I think standing away from a wall height chart and leaning your head steeply to one side is a stupid way to estimate height.

I think I misread your comment. I thought either you can’t get a read on their height (approximate) or that the height markings were incorrect. Sorry for that!

If these are real photos (and I’m thinking they are), I’m sure that the police had the ladies do a do-over (for the height accuracy sake). However, I also think that the police posted these for the very reasons we all have enumerated.

If I were a policeman, I would certainly post these shots online. Then I would Taser the ladies until they stopped grinning and stood up straight. Which is why I must never be allowed to become a policeman.

On the contrary, you might be perfectly qualified…

“Why don’t you just make the 9th circle hotter?”

“Yes, well, see, this circle goes to 11. So its two more hotter than 9.”

“But I thought the ninth circle was cold.”

“Three words for you: negative absolute temperature.”

In this particular case ignorance actually is bliss; no thanks.

A nice looking chap.

A good likeness, but a horrible man.

I really think that institutional photography should have better standards. Maybe you think poorly of people who have been duly convicted of a crime, but this same lack of care extends to people who would later be acquitted. Plus, the DMV gets funny ideas about the photographic arts.
