Motion picture legend Mike Nichols, 1931-2014

Several years ago I was surprised to learn that Nichols had been part of a comedy duo with Elaine May. She wrote the screenplay for The Birdcage, which I think worked so wonderfully because of its cast, but also had a great screenplay. I saw it in the theater when it was first released and loved it almost as much as the original.

I can’t say I’ve seen every episode of ‘Inside the Actors Studio’, but enough of them to say that most actors, as themselves, are not all that interesting to me. Mike Nichols though, who started out his career as an actor and comic, gave one of the most engaging interviews I ever saw, and one of the funniest. He had a dry wit. I looked for a copy I could paste here but failed. If you get the chance to see that interview, please do.
