I always try to live my life as if at any moment I’ll be covered in volcanic ash, and then dug up by future archeologists.
What’s wild is that you don’t think of Europe, or the Mediterranean, when you think of volcanoes.
The particularly wild thing about Etna is that there are ski resorts on it. They periodically have to replace lifts that are destroyed by eruptions.
There are other volcanoes with ski lifts on them, like Mount Hood in Oregon, but I think Etna is the most active.
It’s wild that you don’t. Here in Europe, we’re well aware of eruptions in places like Etna and all over the ironically-named Iceland.
I’m constantly waiting for the Eifel volcanoes to awake from their slumber.
