That will kill the chances of any less-known candidate. The staggered system was put in place to allow minor candidates to rise: you know, to help people like Sanders. If it had all been on one day, it would have been a Clinton blowout.
- Trump/trolley 2016!
Trump is a drag on that ticket.
I think this is close: “America is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world.” – George W. Bush, 2006
The CIA has gone on record saying that none of the emails being investigated by the congressional committee contain classified information.
Can to share where you got that idea?
The reports I’ve read say that emails marked SAP were found.
Hillary Clinton Emails Held Info Beyond Top Secret
Let’s be clear, items classified at the SAP level are born secret.
Now, it wouldn’t surprise me if somehow she manages to escape culpability.
#stopwhitefeminism sounds like it’s tailor made for trollling.
Yeah but it is a big problem tho
Because it’s the Democratic voters that have donated millions to the Clinton Foundation and pay her $225k for 30 minute speeches.
Yes, she is on the whole economically liberal. You don’t get to be ranked as high as the 11th most liberal senator by being only socially liberal. Of course it’s always possible to find issues to criticize about any politician (my particular bugbear is all those democratic congressmen voting for the Iraq war), but that’s why it’s important to get an idea of a politician’s overall voting record, so that some select issues don’t completely distort the image of a person (“Shillary is a Republican”).
Maybe that’s the problem. There is a reason I call myself a socialist and not a liberal.
Cynicism was the last thing on my mind. When Sanders announced his candidacy nobody expected him to get this far. He did it by by being an experienced politician running a smart campaign that energized the progressive wave that’s moving the Democratic party leftwards.
Ugh. MoveOn hasn’t been any kind of “progressive” group for years. Whatever they once were (which is debatable) they are now firmly up the ass of the Democratic establishment. Among many other progressive services to the world, the Occupy movement showed the moral bankruptcy of MoveOn.
can i double like?
not to mention, you managed to bring it back on topic.
it’s going to be really interesting whether, and if so how, clinton brings in any of sander’s core issues. ( with the exception of environmental issues – where to me it seems they diverge the least. ) i’m not hopeful any economic or political balance will be brought to america’s social classes any time soon. which – given how much money the 1% does have – seems like it will keep generating these same geopolitical issues again and again.
Do you agree that excluding corporations from his base matters even if his policy goals are similar to HRC’s goals?
i’ve always assumed it’s done that way to allow candidates to campaign one state or region at a time. wikipedia, for what it’s worth on a topic like this, seems to say the same.
that said, these days, i think it could be better to have a single election and some sort of preference or ranked-choice voting.
Depend who’s doing the ranking. There’s a conception of liberalism which can described as the party of the bourgeoisie-- expansive rights for those who can afford to exercise them. Adherents of this view often describe themselves as “Classical Liberals”.
In its majestic equality, the law forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, beg in the streets and steal loaves of bread.
But most who describe themselves as liberals in this country understand this vision to be lacking.
If your number one issue is rejection of capitalism as is the case with many self-described socialists, then both parties are effectively the same.
But then the extreme left is largely concentrated in states that are blue anyway so it is safe for politicians to ignore them.
