1990s public access TV was a festering hotbed of explosive creativity, the likes of which we’ll never see again. That certainly was true in Austin.
A lot of public access back then was pretty psychedelic, including stuff that wasn’t intended to be psychedelic.
Gary Wilson is a pretty fantastic musician who finished the recording and production of his first album, You Think You Really Know Me, in his parent’s basement in 1976, self-releasing it in 1977. His sound, to me, is completely unhinged Steely Dan: I love it. Check him out.
That was one of the weirdest things I’ve seen.
I don’t think anything was ever streamed on public access TV, least of all during the 90s.
