Musk declares his tiff with Apple over, after Tim Cook gives him a campus tour

Since we’re getting the story from Musk, and he’s um, an unreliable narrator, with all his bullshit and outright lies and total lack of understanding of certain issues, it’s impossible to know what the heck is actually going on here. Who knows what the original situation was, what he was told (if anything), how he’s interpreting that…

I mean, the most charitable scenario for all involved is that Cook explained that they didn’t want to take Twitter down, but if Nazis were allowed to run rampant, if Musk continued down the path of being in violation of relevant EU laws, Apple would have no choice but to take Twitter down, and Musk’s response was, “Oh ok, well, that’ll never happen, so everything is fine.” Whereas the reality with Twitter, its moderation, and increasing violations of EU law doesn’t square with that, but Musk simply has no idea what’s going on (or he thinks he can somehow reverse course somehow without the necessary staff) and doesn’t realize how close Twitter is to being taken down. Or Musk does know the situation is dire, but is just shining everyone on, as he usually does.

I thought he had a massive problem with the fees charged by the app store. I’m shocked that it was just a tantrum and he never gave a damn…Well not that shocked.

Somewhat off topic, but if was the boss of Apple and were to give a tour for a “Very Interesting Person” at the Cupertino UFO I’d have had arranged a circular “endless” round. Walk on and on with the guest while behind their back the appearance of the parcours is altered by adding and removing props, e-ink display door signs, and so on; you get the picture.
And a betting pool on how long it takes the guest to notice.

This must have been lurking in the back of my mind, just out of sight; both of it.

Have you ever seen the film The Train starring Burt Lancaster?

In an elaborate ruse, they reroute the train, temporarily changing railway station signage to make the German escort believe they are heading to Germany when they have actually turned back toward Paris.
