A pleasing travelogue.
9/10, would read next installment
I enjoyed learning recently (from Michael Pollan’s The Botany of Desire) that the term “hard cider” is a relatively recent invention, used to subtly convey the idea that it’s possible to have cider without alcohol. Until the (inaccurately named) “temperance” movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, “cider” was assumed to mean an alcoholic beverage.
You were drinking vanilla liquor?
It’s Terrace by the way…
Whadayya mean was?
I always assumed hard cider meant applejack or calvados. You mean it’s just cider?
When you get to Texas, if you travel through Nacogdoches, hit me up and I’ll treat you two to some real Chicken Fried Steak.
What’s that… stuff on the broccoli?
