I grew up going to New Smyrna Beach (just south of Daytona) and at one point there was a mostly submerged (probably an early 70s) Oldsmobile and my brother ended up getting the Olds badge from it and I barely remember an old wooden ship being partially exposed at some point as well. I’m sure there are quite a few along that coast.
I know of one satellite that used bamboo in its antenna
Pedantic note: bamboo is a grass, not wood. (But also, that’s neat!)
I don’t know what it is, but I’d bet that in a couple days the History Channel will have the Lagina brothers somehow connecting it to the Knights Templar.
Don’t all ships travel through space? (I mean, as opposed to being a time ship.
There’s a sign on the approach to a bridge that is on my shortest route from home to work that says:
ALL
TERRAIN
VEHICLES
PROHIBITED
I’ve not investigated how the authority defines “terrain vehicle”, so that I can plead ignorance if stopped in my car crossing the bridge. I can’t imagine that the bridge is of much use for anything one wouldn’t class as a “terrain vehicle”, such as a boat or an aircraft, so this is a bit of a mystery to me.
Likewise the signs all over US roads that say “do not pass”. Everyone seems to drive right past them, and from observation of their correllation with road markings shown in the versious states versions of a “highway code” they seem to mean “no overtaking”, so that is what I treat them to mean.
I look forward to watching them spend the next 10 years slowly digging up the beach while trying to figure out what it is.
Don’t dig it up for a definite answer, speculation is much more fun.
Space termites will eat either! This company was a competitor of ours and we ribbed them endlessly about it.
What I don’t get about this one is: wouldn’t there be easily accessible records of that? Photos, design plans, etc…easy to verify one way or another, right? It’s not like NASCAR is ancient history.
Mysterious huge object on a beach - movies have taught me that the answer is:
Here’s a race from 1957, it’s hard to tell but most of the bleacher type seating is at the south turn onto the beach and on the beach side of A1A but closer to the highway than the beach.
I’ve been to Daytona but don’t remember much mostly because alcohol but I believe the section where most of the seating was is all built up so things like bleachers would have been removed decades ago.
There does seem to be a lot of poles/pilings defining the track, I guess it could be that but the angle is all wrong.
Still photos from much earlier races show the layout about the same. Watching this video it’s insane how close spectators were allowed to the track and cars running at 140+ mph.
Of course there are also stage trees, which are kind of a spaceship made from wood…
I’m honestly waiting to see how long it takes the various beach groups to come to blows on this.
In Volusia County, the laws on beach lights and even digging are draconian because of the sea turtles. And, in general, the residents love them. I’ve seen people walking down the beach filling in holes that kids dig at the water’s edge. So you have the turtle people fighting with historical people (also a HUGE and vocal group) fighting with anyone who feels it will impact tourism (which is a massive driver of the economy of the area).
I’m up north now but will be down there in January. Can’t wait to see what it looks like then.
It’s clearly a repeater for telepathic communication and sensing. James Randi proved this by his silence on the issue.
I was going to say the wrecked ship of Amelia Earhart’s alien captors, but this is just as good.
