I love that NASA’s heroic age left us so much footage that is free to use. Audio too.

It’s a beautiful side effect.

Though obviously I’d find it even better if government funded medicines were free for all to make and millions hasn’t been killed by greed during the AIDS pandemic and vaccine apartheid killed who knows how many?

could maybe advance the technology to get data to the probes faster, but the hardware onboard can’t really be upgraded to receive those sped up transmissions (e.g. laser-amplified transmissions, or some such improvement).

I was missing a /s there. If nothing else there’s not a lot they can do to overcome the speed of light — if they could, that might be newsworthy.
