Art Young, a Socialist cartoonist, was the author of my favorite definition of Socialism from the November 1, 1918 edition of the NYC Daily Call, the Socialist newspaper of the time:

Art Young’s Political Primer: What is Socialism? It is business operated for public benefit instead of private profit.

Another Socialist cartoonist who should be given another look is Ryan Walker who wrote and drew “Henry Dubb” and “Henry Dubb No Longer” also for the NY Daily Call.

Syd Hoff’s Danny and the Dinosaur was one of my favorite books back in the day.
