New burial suggests cats have been domesticated far longer than we thought

Pfft, 'domesticated', like we had any control over them. You mean they had trained their human servants for much longer than we originally thought.

Paraphrasing Walt Kelly's comment on the then-new investigations of echolocation:

"It should never be forgotten that, all the time we were domesticating cats, cats had an excellent opportunity to domesticate us."

(My two have declined to dignify this observation with a comment.)

Meaning cats were jerks who expected free stuff even longer than we thought.

Came here to say this, but not nearly as cleverly as Kelly.
