i’m an outlier, but Movement is my favorite New Order album. always has been. i love the transition period between Joy Division and what New Order evolved to in the 80s.

Such an amazing document from this time. Bernard looks so uncertain on stage. He doesn’t have a good grasp of the song at all and screws up several times. He doesn’t have his own voice yet either, but just seems to be imitating Ian’s.
You can also see how Stephen Morris is keeping it all from falling apart. I’ve long thought that he was the band’s secret weapon.
