Dubai’s city planning concept:
Why, are there no windows, do they not need light, when they say its the size of one apartment, is it really a prison, with a floating floor, where food will descend from the top and your only allowed to eat your meal?
Thou i also wonder if it will ever get built, dubai, just seems to want to be in the news no matter how much it costs, i have even had to block the word to from insta, random feed, so i dont have to see any more propaganda from there.
It’s only a skyscraper if it stands in the Chicago Loop area; otherwise it’s just a sparkling high-rise.
Anyway, I’d love to see the structural design for this thing.

Yep - oil is only 1% of Dubai’s economy. The rest is just being the tackiest place on Earth.
Sales of oil may not directly be a huge part of Dubai’s GDP right now but their economy is certainly very dependent on oil wealth in the region. The main reason why international companies would want to set up financial centers and have a local presence there is to take advantage of the oil wealth in the neighborhood.
They’re part of the UAE, after all, and just a 1.5 hour drive away from Abu Dhabi which is extremely reliant on oil for its economy.
