It’s NYC. I wouldn’t hold much hope for it statewide; there’s backlash upstate against anything that comes from The City and Gov. Hochul seems all too willing to placate the masses and keep the noise down.
Canada is also partway through an aggressive single use plastics ban. It’s all great, though some changes are easier to absorb than others. I loved seeing plastic bags go away. We all had to retrain ourselves to bring reusable bags into every store (not just for groceries) but it’s been great.
The straws, I admit, have been a more difficult adjustment. The paper ones are… not great. I’ve thought about getting my own stainless one, but then I have to remember to carry that around too. I’m sure we’ll figure out a better way, but for the time being the paper straws are meh.
