It’s hard to read that as anything but “efforts to avoid exposure are pointless.”

Not sure why the Times is publishing this…

It’s a good way to visualize how coronavirus might spread, even though some of the details might be off.

… perhaps because NYC is the epicenter of the American coronavirus and bodies are being stacked in refrigerated trailers; coronavirus “scofflaws” need to be frightened into doing what’s right.
