So, which of the clips in that ad were (a) fake, or (b) conservative false flag ops??

Perhaps they’ll do an ad about every American’s right to defend themselves against zombies.

They should run that ad during a late-night broadcast of The Omega Man.

Right, they didn’t actually say, “Kill the liberals.” They only implied violence against “them.” Who “they” are is completely open to interpretation. I mean, there’s no way to deduce who the NRA could have been referring to. It could be anybody.

OK, change it to “NRA ads strongly imply Americans need guns to shoot ‘the Resistance’” I mean, while we’re sacrificing our intellectual honesty to defend blatant instigation of an armed populace against an imaginary boogeyman and all.

perhaps they should give us a definition of “lie” first.

Here it is:

So your theory is that this NRA ad has nothing to do with firearms?

Well, since you asked…

The first 20-30 seconds of the ad shows sped-up scenes of tourists milling about various attractions (the Chicago Bean, the Disney concert hall, etc). Nothing fake there, just b-roll to fill space.

Then we see a bunch of quick clips of protesters marching; it’s hard to tell, from how quickly we see them, but one looks like the Washington march against the travel ban, and another the tax march. Neither was remotely violent despite the claims in the voiceover. We also see peaceful people holding signs.

These are cut between clips of antifa black bloc assholes destroying property and quick cuts of people burning flags. It’s impossible for anybody to tell what group these are, since they’re so quick and made grainy & black and white. The longest cut looks like the Trump supporter injured at the riots in Costa Mesa during his campaign.

So I don’t think any of the video was “fake”, but it’s cut so rapidly that it’s intentionally just a blur of random people marching, yelling, and throwing things. Besides a few frames where you see “Resist” signs, the protesters could be anybody.

Inoffensive people who are exercising free speech in reasonable parameters.

Which nobody is calling for from that crowd. Because we call that terrorism.

Because the “War on Poverty”, “Culture Wars” and “War on Christmas” were fought using guns.

I did not mean you personally. There are a lot of people who have been talking pretty openly about resistance. The NRA did not have to fabricate images and video of people who actually think they want to violently overthrow the country. I don’t even think it is really at the root of it left vs right. It is really about extremists across the spectrum vs the vast peaceful majority.
You know the subject video came out a couple of weeks ago, two days before a nutjob with a kill list of republicans opened fire on that baseball practice. ( #huntingrepublicancongressmen )

A really shitty rip-off of the solidarity fist. It totally looks like it has opposing thumbs on each side.

I’m pretty sure Hitler also knew how to read. Some sources claim he even could do so in more than one language.

Thanks for the warning!
I’d be more afraid of Trumpian “Anschluss” fantasies if I was Canadian rather than Austrian, but just to be on the safe side, I have a few things that I want to remind the American government of:

First, I hope President Trump remembers that Austria is that country with all those kangaroos.

And in case Trump gives an order to attack Austria, and that order gets passed on to someone at the Pentagon who knows that Austria is in Europe, I’d like to remind everyone of a few more important geographical facts.

First, Austria is east of Switzerland. Do not bomb the area south of Switzerland. Those guys are innocent. Just consult the following map:

And also, no matter how much Macron annoys you by trying to make our planet great again - if you are going to bomb France, please avoid bombing the mountainous area east of Toulouse:

Thank you for listening and not invading the wrong country.

“quasi-ethnic”? As racial slurs go, this one is new to me. Also, I would really prefer to leave the racial theory to the bad guys.

No, you got that wrong. The image you posted as a definition of “lie” shows Trump with his mouth closed. That means he is not lying.

Including VP Mike Pence. Does the NRA consider him a violent threat?

(oh, and I love that the Google search suggestion for “mike pence resist” is “Did you mean: mike pence racist”)

Bullshit. This is absolutely about left vs. right. The NRA never aired ads specifically calling for people to help uphold peaceful order on behalf of the Obama administration, nor did they seem overly concerned when right-wing extremists were staging armed takeovers of Federal wildlife refuges or shooting Democratic legislators (where is Giffords’ hashtag?).

The only thing the modern-day NRA has been ideologically consistent about is convincing white people they need to arm themselves in defense of some scary “other.” When Obama was in the White House the “other” was the Federal government. Now that Trump is in the White House it’s about defending that same government from scary dissenters.

It was not intended as “a racial slur” and as a person color, I kinda resent that implication.

#O_O

It means people who don’t look strictly White, but still have enough Eurocentric features to be accepted as part of the dominant group; and they coincidentally get trotted out by conservative factions whenever there are any accusations of racial bigotry, as ‘proof’ of how inclusive they really are…

Furthermore, I didn’t coin the phrase; it was used satirically in Dodgeball.

Prefer whatever you’d like, but it would be nice to avoid making assumptions in the future; asking for clarification tends to work so much better.

I’m reminded of their early-1990s TV ad with Charlton Heston. Can’t find it on YouTube; instead I’m finding a bunch of more recent ads like this new one, but with Charlie Daniels etc.
