She was a real nutter!
I don’t get it. If she had the authority to order the plane back to the gate, there’s no crime in that. If she didn’t have the authority, why did the crew listen to her?
I asked the same question when I heard about the incident. It was explained to be a matter of strict, (nearly) universally-recognized protocols for ships and aircraft. The captains/pilots are considered to have ultimate authority in these instances for the safety of the passengers and crew, even exceeding their superiors in the company hierarchy. As for why they listened to her… I’m not sure, but they did get to see her nutty ass get arrested, instead of flying with her tantrums.
