I have to admit that I donāt follow celebrity stuff closely, and was never a fan of Spearsā music. But this seems really really weird to me. I donāt understand conservatorships, but from what Iāve read regarding this case, it seems like sheās getting hosed by the courts and her father.
Wiser people here could explain?

She had some very public mental health challenges and was put under conservatorship for thatā¦ it still stands and she canāt even control her own reproductive healthā¦
Iām sure youāre familiar with the scholarship in US history on women and these sorts of legal means to control their lives and wealth. This really does seem like it could come straight out of the late 19th centuryā¦ claim a woman is insane, put her away, and take her shitā¦ or if sheās poor or a woman of color, just sterilize her. Which of course lasted well into the 20th centuryā¦
Itās fucked. Not a fan either, but this is just fucked.

Children are chattel to their parents, women are chattel to men, so of course the father of a wealthy young woman gets to control her (and her money) forever.
Heās paying himself twice what he allows her to have for a budget. That tells you all you need to know.
Oh yeah, and the not allowing her to take the IUD out of her body so that she can try to get pregnant. Which the anti-choice people completely support, so it really isnāt about the sanctity of life after all, is it?
