I think people ought to be able to make their cars look as silly as they want. But this particular modification seems to raise the headlights up to an angle where they blast right into my rearview mirror.
Right. As the article says, the problem is multiple forms of danger to others, no matter how “sexy” the owners think it makes their pooping truck look.
The beheading danger as well as the decreased visibility would make this a hard no for me.
If they aren’t driving them around, sure. But the Carolina Squat seems to have some safety issues. Blinding other drivers at night isn’t just annoying but dangerous. I haven’t seen any articles with data about it, but the advocates for banning that particular mod also said the raised front can make collions, particularly with pedestrians more dangerous, just like the super-high jacked trucks. Could this be dislike of the mod (or the drivers who prefer it) dressed up as a safety isssue? Possible. They did that with low riders. But these vehicles seem to be genuinely dangerous in a way low riders are not

“BuzzFeed is going public Monday, after shareholders of the special-purpose acquisition company 890 Fifth Avenue Partners approved their merger.”
Who knew a website consisting of stupid lists would ever get this far?
I have read some decent long form articles there over the years.
Michael Sheen seems like a good dude as well as a great actor. I mean, made the Twilight films (vaguely) watchable which is a hell of an accomplishment.
I didn’t even realize he was in those…
He played one of the leaders of the Volturi - the law enforcers of the Twilight vampire world. Every scene he was in was wonderfully hammy - and it totally worked.
The irony of the Twilight films in my opinion was that the Volturi were some of the most interesting characters in all of the Twilight universe - so of course that meant that they were wildly underutilized.
(And now I’ve admitted to the world that I’ve seen all of the Twilight films enough times to form these kind of opinions about them.)
Huh. The Osthaus Museum Hagen has a 75th birthday retrospective of the works of Sylvester Stallone.
I just might go see it (Covid permitting), it’s some 30 minutes from where I live.
As an aside, anyone up for an “It’s the Arts” thread?
