Odd Stuff (Part 2)

Why did the car pull over BEHIND the truck? If you’re going to stop to help, go past and then pull over. You’ll be closer to the cab to check the driver, and you’re much less likely to get hit by other cars.

Mild shock? This is not the kind of situation where people stay entirely level-headed when they encounter it for the first time.

Clicking through to the Jalopnik article it shows the GIF as being from the Nebraska State Police.
My assumption at this point is that it was taken from a patrol car dash cam.

Makes sense that a police car would pull over behind the truck in order to have all its blinken lights on as a warning to other drivers. Otherwise, yes if you’re an individual trying to help then definitely go past and pull over.

Ah, yes, I didn’t realize it was a police car dash cam. Makes perfect sense now. Thanks!

I prefer the Judy Garland version::musical_note:
Someday soon we all will be together
If the fates allow
Until then, we’ll have to muddle through somehow :musical_note:

The movie came out in 1944. We can only imagine the impact of those lyrics on those waiting at home for loved ones overseas.

Thanks for that. I didn’t really notice that some versions left out the have to muddle through somehow.

Which is better. And works for now for most people.

A developer named Dominic Szablewski has given the world a new file format with a splendid name: the Quite OK Image Format (QOI).

I’m really enjoying this very odd building design:

Oooh, it’s Moshe Safdie’s 1967 Habitat but with the outside lined up with the street and glass clad instead of “beton brute”. Hopefully the concrete is done a bit better…

I hope MVRDV’s next contract isn’t one taken out on me… :slightly_frowning_face:

The Shambles, I think.

Diagon Alley, rather, I suspect. No Daily Prophet in Ankh-Morpork.

The Shambles in York, not the Shades in Ankh-Morkpork.

Commander Vimes would think the Shambles was pretty posh.
