I guess people can literally do whatever they want if they have enough money
Damm! Those Wikipedia editors are quick to keep stuff up to date…
It’s cool that study linked in the 2nd article compared annual prices, accommodations and amenities for assisted living versus cruise living (2004 prices) and the cost difference was only about $12K more to live on a cruise ship. Looked at incrementally like that, I would far prefer a cruise ship (I think, never actually been on one) to any of the assisted living facilities I’ve seen.
What got my attention was folks in the first story’s comment section (and retirement blogs) found some cruise lines/trips were cheaper than assisted living or a nursing home. That probably included finding discount voyages, and the experience on cruises can vary a lot depending on the company, destinations, or amenities.
It says a lot about healthcare management and rising costs, though. However, people with health problems don’t have a lot of choice - unless they have enough money for cruises and personal medical care/assistance.
I was wondering more about general ambient comfort. The thing that gets me about even the nicest assisted living places I’ve been in is the constant undertone of beeps and clicks and other sounds of various medical devices in the hallways. I couldn’t imagine being content on a cruise ship with blaring music, or constant announcements like at the US airports, either, but there’s a lot a room with an ocean balcony and ever-changing scenery can make up for!
Do they provide that level of care?
“There’s a giant, waterproof poster reading Live, Laugh, Love in comic sans font making its way down your street now.”
I don’t think so…yet. I just meant, for someone of relatively stable health who was deciding between assisted living or cruise ship, like, you’re okay but not wanting to or able to still drive, shovel snow, do the regular living alone type stuff, cruise ship might be nicer due to the lack of the medical ambiance.
If you don’t need active daily or weekly medical care, it’s definitely not a dumb idea to consider.
Don’t need to
take out the papers or the trash.
And you don’t need no spending cash.
Don’t talk back!
yakety yak!
No sooner as it appears…
5 bucks says the two were abusing the animal.
Any other animal, I’d agree with you, but camels…camels revel in their meanness!
they are dicks.
They don’t want to be contained or ridden.
Hey, no kink shaming!
