Love how the target was Trudeauā€™s comic caricature of HST.

Late 70s, I think, I was driving to school one day and I saw a sign outside of the college auditorium that was very Steadman-ish and read ā€œGonzoā€ with a time for that evening. Sat in the auditorium at that time and watched people drift out after HST was two hours late. Turned out he had the students that picked him up at the airport stop at a bar, but the wait was worth it. Legendary.

If only I hadnā€™t watched that Doctor Who episode ā€œBlink,ā€ I might consider this more cool than creepy.

Even without having seen the episode, it creeps me out.

Interesting oddity in Zillow.com. The Chicago Little Italy and Greektown neighborhoods werenā€™t slums though. Mayor Daley had them carved up because he feared the power of the Italians (even though they voted for him).

He could have bulldozed Bridgepoint instead but it wouldnt have been as popular with his base.

Well, thatā€™s it, though. The whole concept of a ā€œslumā€ that needs to be cleared is a political fiction. Here in Atlanta it was a Black middle class neighborhood not too far from Ebenezer Baptist and Kingā€™s childhood home to make way for I-20ā€¦ They are within 2 or 3 blocksā€¦ An entire neighborhood was wiped about, while the white, middle class poncey-highlands was preserved.
