That’s how it works, all right- the salts in the water cause an electrochemical cell to be set up between the Aluminium and the other metal- The highly reactive Aluminium will oxidise preferentially, causing the tarnished metal to reduce back to its pure state. It’s best to crumple the aluminium foil before putting it in the dishwasher, to disrupt the coating of aluminium oxide that forms on its surface- this will really help the reaction to get going.

They tried to sell me a rust-proofing gizmo for my car when I got it. A reoccurring scam. I noticed that the rust-proofing guarantee wasn’t backed by Ford, but some third party which will have gone out of business and reopened under a new name by the time I made a claim.
eta: scam for cars, that is. It works fine for ships immersed in water.

We have some distilled vinegar is a spray bottle, give a little misting to our stainless steel pots/pans before they go in the dishwasher, and they come out lovely and shiny.

and @anon15383236 , a ball of foil and an acid like vinegar or coca-cola will take surface rust off chrome or steel, so it doesn’t seem far-fetched to use it in the dishwasher

I’m not sure if it’s possible to get “worse” than a production that inherently ‘both sides’ the Holocaust, but they certainly managed to pile more layers of brain-dead idiocy on top of that original offensive idea.

I know of one production that was proposed that omitted the deaths at the end. But this one certainly is worse. When you have to re-write the play to make it fit your vision you’ve misinterpreted the text.
I wonder if this is partly a matter of time-it’s been long enough since the Holocaust that now the Nazis (despite being all too alive and well) are seen as sort of generic villains. Or else they were just trying to be edgy and transgressive.either way, there was a potful of deplorable choices made.
