Odd Stuff (Part 3)

Makes sense. Much easier than, say, having to dig up Gregor Mendel to put a stake through his heart and chop off his head!

Iā€™m not sure itā€™s true. But it should be true.

That hammer has the text Ass. Cristiane Lavoratori IT on the handle, the Association of Christian Workers of Italy. They were founded in the 1940ā€™s. I donā€™t see how this could have bashed many popes.

Iā€™m off work today and have too much time on my hands.

I absolutely cannot stand that the beginning ā€œand theyā€™ll tell two friendsā€ doubling happens a split beat before the drum hits. Drives me crazy.

We had two faculty in Music who hated each other. Theyā€™d claim that the other was hitting notes ā€œone fifty-second of a beat offā€ to cause the other to lose time. I listened to a show once, and one of them excitedly said ā€œsee see! Can you hear how sheā€™s doing that?ā€ And I couldnā€™t hear a thing. But other musicians told me that yes, this is a thing that people will do.

I like the parody version. But the drum thing still gets me.

Thatā€™s really surprising. No report available, but a few things.

  1. Montgomery regional is very small so it only takes a couple of minutes from touchdown to being at the gate. When aircraft land here they typically turn off the left engine so that it will be all the way off by the time passengers disembark out the left side, and keep the right engine at ground idle to allow for taxiing to the gate. This means that the right engine is still turning rapidly while approaching the gate.

  2. Most aircraft that land in Montgomery regional are CRJ-700 series. These have two engines at the back of the aircraft. An Embraer 170 has engines under the wings.

  3. The baggage hatch is just in front of the engines on an Embraer 170.

Iā€™m gonna guess that ground crews who were used to the CRJ-700 type approached the baggage hatch while the right engine on the Embraer 170 was still turning and met their end
