Life before Death

R. D. Laing

Charisma CAS 1141

Life before Death is the result of a collaboration during 1977 and 1978 between the Scottish psychiatrist R. D. Laing (7 October 1927 – 23 August 1989) and the composers Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley. It takes the form of a series of sonnets and other poems written and performed by Laing to an original musical score.

The album was recorded at the Regent’s Park Recording Company, London, and issued on the Charisma label in 1978. The musical direction and orchestrations were by Nic Rowley. The recording engineer was Stephen Lipson, assisted by Alan Jacoby. The sleeve artwork was designed by Hag.

Duet, right? Just an incredible episode and quite early in its run when you realise DS9 means serious business.

Yeah. I think that was one of the first episodes where you could really see what would be possible for this show by being more rooted in one location and not just focusing on the federation and its people. It also really showed what Nana Visitor could do as an actor. She was just brilliant in that.

leaflet advertisement of the new brand “Poetti”, which stated that it offered “Paulig’s long-term expertise” and “its own factory in Tver”. Paulig’s coffee roastery was located in Tver, before it was sold to a local private investor.

Yeah, funny until you’re the one at a light that won’t change until it detects a car, or someone presses the button, and you’re on a motorcycle that won’t trip it. (And no, dropping the kickstand doesn’t work either.)

We’ve had those little “starships” all over Milton keynes and Newport Pagnell for over a year now. I’m sure they’re very handy. They’re shit at crossing roads. If you do use them, don’t order anything time-dependent, like ice.

Also, my dog has pissed on at least three of them, while they were waiting at a zebra crossing.
Use gloves.
