Iâd probably stick with the non-fiction books I listed, if for no other reason than [in my imagined role as the head of the U.S. EPA] Iâd want to convey that these booksâGaviotas and Mycelium Running at leastâare IRL roadmaps, successful projects completed by living breathing mortal humans who get measurable, useful, tested results. They are handles for the ecological breakdown current lifeforms on this planet face.
I guess if I were to pick something allegorical, I could get a first edition of Frank Herbertâs Dune which I appreciate as far as making ecology a religion goes, but Iâve kinda grown out of Herbert. These days Iâm more likely to pick Winona LaDukeâs All Our Relations.

Thatâs a dangerous stretch of road to be traveling on a Friday night on your lawnmower. Itâs the only primary artery besides I-75 which doesnât even border on The Villages. And thereâs several stores within the complex!
