The Daily Show had a funny NSFW take on this, in their coverage of the recent story from Florida (set at approx. 7:30):
They are illegal in Texas. The governor has, for years, pushed against making them legal but changed his tune recently
He can no longer pretend that itās just āthose peopleā who are dying of overdoses.
āTwo dicks for armsā
Amsterdam stag destination warning
And just why in the hell should something like that be illegal anyway?
Supposedly it is drug paraphernalia. Like crack pipes or bongs. Or sterile syringes if intended to be used for drugs. Yeah, it makes no sense. The GOP has pushed against harm reduction for decades. I think Abbottās about face on the testing strips is less because his voters are ODing and more because it will play into his false narrative about fentanyl flooding through the southern border. That idea, that the opioid crisis is caused solely by drugs being snuck across the border or carried by undocumented immigrants, is big with them. And nevermind the fact most of the drugs come thru ports of entry.

Naturally my first thought is āCool! How can it be repurposed?ā
Itās intended for low-bandwidth connections, but there was a time when the ARPAnet backbone was 57KB/s connections, and 50M/day would get a full Usenet feed and email.
His last name is Stump!
Maybe while heās in prison he can get help with his literacy. Not likely, but possible.
Chicago is playing my area this fall. I thought about getting tickets. Great seats with the āVIPā package were only $90 a piece.
Hey, thatās actually a pretty a great price! Add to cart, go to checkout, andā¦
The fuck? At no point did it say that the VIP package was extra cost, and itās mandatory with those seats so itās not like I can remove it.
So, $90 + $46 āconvenience feeā + $6 āservice feeā + $200 for the VIP package which I didnāt even really want other than getting early entry but itās mandatory. Oh, and an additional $2.50 āprocessing feeā because clearly the āservice feeā and āconvenience feeā werenāt enough already. Thatās how two $90 tickets become two $342 tickets (plus $2.50 for processing).
This wasnāt even Ticketmaster selling these, but they sure took a page from Ticketmasterās book there.
Needless to say I said fuck that noise and didnāt buy those tickets. For me to pay that kind of scratch for a live show itās going to have to be for a bucket list kind of thing, not a āhey that might be kinda cool to go toā kind of thing.
Speaking of bullshit ticket prices, I missed Smashing Pumpkins last time they were out here and I though about maybe getting tix for the show this fall.
LOL, no. Fuck that.
Even more ridiculous are the GA ticket prices:
Yeah, nope. Iāve never been a huge SP fan but after this greed (and apparently their previous show here was terrible and ended after just over an hour because Billy Corgan was having voice issues), Iām basically done with them.
Ticketbastard strikes againā¦
Just go find some hole in the wall club and some see local punk bandā¦ itāll be like $10, the beer will be okay, and youāll have fun!
Or maybe sign up for the local temp labor force who will hire folks to work the venue.
