Two things:
First of all, I immediately understood that menu to mean a small portion of chips is £1.90, and a large is £2.40.
This is probably because while we’d never usually apply this to chips, the Scottish terms at the top of this list would be “single” and “supper”, where the second of those means “with chips”.
