So true! My husband moved to CA in 1978 and uses âbeachâ when referring to the place where sand meets water. However, whenever he nostalgically remembers his family vacations next to the ocean in NJ he uses âshore.â
Shore = where ocean meets land.
Beach = a sandy strip along the shore
