Even being charitable and assuming the organisers did want it to be an enjoyable event, it certainly reads as if they realised it was going to be a disaster and took the money and ran.
But why be charitable? Websites closing down and anodyne stock statements to media all point to scam. I imagine there will be suppliers and artists who have been left short too.
They are using the Bialystok and Bloom business model of theatrical production.
