The reason chemical agents are banned on the battlefield is because it is hard to target the enemy and many people apart from enemy soldiers (ie civilians and friendly troops) may be poisoned.

Of course when militarized police use it, we civilians are all the enemy so that doesn’t apply.

They don’t need to.The fact that she died off the scene and there isn’t clear video of her being murdered allows people to ignore it. Denial does the job more effectively than a smear.

Right, but (part of) the reason they’re broadly and not not selectively banned in warfare is because they are impossible to distinguish from one another in the moment (until people die).
