On this day, of every year, some stuff happened…

Self-aggrandizement: gyrofrog.com shows “on this day,” most days…
(and that’s pretty much all there is to it)
It just won’t stop…
Your website is strange. I like it
Thx!
But in all honesty: I set it up in '96, got a domain name in '00, and… yep, that about covers it.
The “on this day” daily rotation was an experiment/exercise from a couple of years ago*; it worked and I pretty much left that as-is, too…
*(i.e. “Hey! I’m not posting these things on FB every day, anymore. You can check on my website from now on… Hello…?”)

Back to the topic at hand…
One of my history teachers used to start most lessons with something like:
“1837! It was a year, like any other year…and nothing happened”
And then we’d go on to cover everything that happened.
OMG, Rob Ford! I heard he’s dead! Should we start a thread… on this day?
The Hidden Almanac for May 26, 2014:
It was on this day in 1540 that the House of Blatt set fire to the House of Sworn, for which the House of Sworn retaliated by diverting a river into the basement of the House of Blatt. Loss of life was minimal but property damage was immense, culminating in a pitched battle between the two Dowagers, who slapped one another with fans until they were both nearly unconscious.
