I remember reading an interview with Sorbo around the time the Disney Hercules movie came out and his comment was something like “Everyone knows I’m the real Hercules. That guy looks like a wimp!” What a sad petty man.
Maybe peanut refers to his testicles
More evidence of the origin of superstition (whatever you call that). The more stupid someone is, the more certain they seem that something weird is going on, and the only way to get to the bottom of it, is something stupider. All the other stories in this thread just reinforce it: He has no idea how anything works. And dammit, he wants answers!
I could believe him as a Jason or Perseus, maybe Paris, or a low-rent version of Odysseus (though Armand Assante will always be my Odysseus from the wonderful 1997 movie), but he is in no way and never was a believable Hercules! I always thought Xena was the better show anyway.
If you’d like to see an actual good movie about Greek myths, you could do much worse than this adaptation of The Odyssey. Armand Assante as wily Odysseus, Isabella Rossellini as Athena, Greta Scacchi as Penelope, Geraldine Chaplin as Eurycleia, Christopher Lee as Tyresius, Vanessa Williams as Calypso, and Bernadette Peters herself as Circe! The same company tried to adapt Jason and the Argonauts the following year, but it was a mess and featured a particularly bad Hercules. Oh well!
The only time I’ve ever heard peanut used as a nickname for someone is an adult addressing a small, naive child, maybe 3 - 5 years old.
I remember it from black and white TV shows and Disney-esque movies.
Given Sorbo was born in 1958, if this is why she is calling him Peanut, I’m sure it isn’t lost on him.
… apparently it was common slang for “kid” in the 1940s

… thus the name of the comic strip

Or his brain.
Andromeda ran from 2000-2005; Stargate SG-1 ran from 1997-2007. Some actors from one appeared on the other (Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge were in individual Andromeda episodes and Lexa Doig played the base doctor in the last two seasons of SG-1, and there are probably lots of actors who appeared in bit parts in both since they were both in production in Vancouver BC at the same time). But since SG-1 precedes and completely overlaps the period Andromeda was in production it’s not like actors from one “went on to be” in the other.
Eff him and the centaur he rode in on.
Ah jeez, you’re right - not having seen it, I was thinking of entirely the wrong series (Farscape, 99-03)
No way, not, ever, exhibiting too smart for his own good energy. He sure does put his foot in his mouth but it’s common or garden fuckwittedness and nothing to do with over complex scheming wheels within wheels and games upon games.
The faint whiff of dishonour due to his desire to win at all costs is there though.
I’m guessing that not all of the Legendary Journey guy’s muscles were legendary.
He really thought this was some kind of great gotcha.
He thought this thought up to himself, liked it, typed it out, looked at it again and still thought it was a good idea, and then actually submitted it.
Wowzers
In my head the last two seasons of Stargate SG-1 are Farscape SG-1 (due to the presence of Claudia Black and Ben Browder).
Marvel’s Hercules can be such a fun character, I hope any new adaptation keeps that quality!
Line 3 & 4 are reversed.
(Sorry/not sorry….I’m an old folkie!)
