Has anybody here ever actually bought any Amway stuff? I don’t think I know anybody who has, but a few times I have met with clients who had a whole basement full of Amway brand chemicals. They did not try to sell me chemicals. They did try to recruit me. I infer that Amway is a lot more “multi-level” and a lot less “marketing.”

Oh dude. Amway (which is her money she married into) ballpark spends on the order of 100 million (or more?) dollars a year* for the private fleet of jets that anyone who is part of “The Family” (i.e. born into, married into DeVos or Van Andels) is able to use.
When I was consulting there in '12, they had just bought their 12th jet. I cannot say what they are up to now.
Some of them are 747’s! I gather it costs about 50k* to just have one take off from the local airport, and The Family can go anywhere, anytime for any reason I gather.
*From what the dudes in the hangar tell me about how often they fly, and what it costs. I could be off, but it’s in the ballpark.
This is the DeVos lifestyle. Financed by the predominantly poor, to enrich already rich assholes.

Unfortunately that can be said for no profit degrees as much as for profit ones.
The entire secondary education system is screened up in the US and Devos as disgusting as she is didn’t cause that. She will make it worse no doubt. But it was broken before her.
Early reports make it sound like someone just… untied it? I say if you are prepared to plop down $40 million for a boat then maybe you ought to spend at least 40 bucks on a decent bike lock.

There are exceptions. I teach at a community college that is tuition-free for city residents, inexpensive for everyone else and accepts all applicants. We have butted heads with local for-profit institutions though.
