Ongoing coronavirus happenings

I was thinking about a CPU fan-driven HEPA filter box, hose and mask as mentioned up-thread.

The tricky part is driving the fan with pulse-width modulation. Ardiunos are out of reach in Toronto, and a Raspberry Pi would be awkward overkill. (Change the battery, then hold my breath waiting for Linux to reboot?)

Then I considered the classic Hackaday snark. Yes! This really is a project where it could be replaced with a 555 chip.

So you’re saying those of us who find Tylenol useless CAN take the baby aspirin instead, as long as we don’t exceed the 81mg? Because honestly that would work better for a headache than any amount of Tylenol, even up to a dosage that would cause death (which WOULD alleviate the headache).

Nurses have always gotten the short end of the stick: the core of their work is all the more dangerous tasks, for less money and respect than doctors.

81 mg would not give any significant pain relief, and the data on the whole NSAID thing is still up in the air, despite the WHO statement today.

Too true

Sheesh we’ve got all that equipment here already, including Arduinos and Raspberry Pi (and many other bits by less well known manufacturers).

I wonder if our housebound College Boy would be interested in a project, given that all the pieces are on his workbench, or in the small parts organizers, or sitting inert in shelved previous projects.

If only I could get him to stop gaming long enough to hear my pitch

You know things are really fucked up when Tucker is considered the voice of reason in Trump’s circles

Almost all religious temples in the country (churches, mosques, synagogues, Afro-Brazilian temples, spiritualists etc.) are doing their part and canceled the services.

However, there are some reticents.

Well, if Tucker ever leaves Fox News he’s a shoe-in for a new reality show series: The Shitweasel Whisperer.

If you won’t close your church, then God will close it for you.

Matthew 6:6 is also extremely relevant to Christians right now

A neighbor went up and down the street yesterday, trying to get everyone on the same social media page. (If only there were some geo-communities or geo-city kind of site
)

“It’s not Facebook; they don’t collect your information.”

I finally looked at the sheet of paper. It’s Nextdoor
Yeah, that’s not going to get one of my primary emails.
