So by a per-capita measure our official infection rate is something like four or five times as high as the country where the outbreak started. Groovy.
Because… “America, fuck yeah; we’re number one…” at being the worst.
Huge numbers. The biggest. We’ll see what happens.
Good thing it’s under control and the numbers are going down then.
Is there any information to tell us how much of this is increased testing and how much of this is simply more cases per capita? This could actually be good news if the US is simply detecting more cases that were getting a pass. (For example, perfect testing might bring the infected numbers to 300K in one day.)
While the US is usually late to the common-sense party, pure brute economic power and efficiency makes up for a lot in the longer term.
Certainly greatly improved testing capability appears to have rolled out to some health-care providers. Any idea how it’s doing overall? All I could find were anecdotes.
Even harder to find for Ontario.
Trump was right. I am tired of all the winning
American Exceptionalism on display once again.
Yes, we are the worst.
Woo f’ing Hoo!
Just think how much more it would be if we hadn’t stopped travel from China when we did! /s
Please note, confirmed cases run in the neighborhood of one fifth to one tenth of actual cases.
The power of misinformation at work! The US anti-virus efforts were definitely slowed by people wringing their hands about the economy and straight up lies and a leadership vacuum at the top.
Whatever happened to Pence being in charge of the COVID-19 response anyway?
That was a blame deflecting strategy from the get-go. Pence NEVER had any power or influence in this issue, he’s just the pre-designated scapegoat if things go South.
Note:
Things are going South.
When do we get to label tRump Co. as mass murderers? Asking for the USA…
We’re #1!
We’re #1!
Sign on Harry Truman’s desk: “The Buck Stops Here”
Donald Trump:“I take no responsibility”
Put an SEP field around it.
So 16% of cases worldwide are in the USA. American Exceptionalism at its best. Let’s all join hands and chant "We’re #1, We’re #1!
Ok, but just no, um, never mind.
USA is doing pretty good with a 23% increase per day. With solid isolation measures it should be possible to get that down to 15% or so.
