Yep. And look at how wimpy-ass CNN twists its summary of that Texas shithead to avoid summarizing what he’s really saying about other people:
Yes I know this is BuzzFeed, but it’s a good reminder to pay attention to how companies treat their employees NOW:
Because you still gotta smile:

Corona - Try Me Out (1995)
We extend the canonical epidemiology model to study the interaction between economic decisions and epidemics. Our model implies that people’s decision to cut back on consumption and work reduces the severity of the epidemic, as measured by total deaths. These decisions exacerbate the size of the recession caused by the epidemic. The competitive equilibrium is not socially optimal because infected people do not fully internalize the effect of their economic decisions on the spread of the virus. In our benchmark scenario, the optimal containment policy increases the severity of the recession but saves roughly 0.6 million lives in the U.S.
It’s an extension of " the classic SIR model proposed by Kermack and McKendrick".
Speaking of which why hasn’t any one coded up a COVID-19 themed toy model aimed at the general public?
A thread with lotsa stuff:
Note that this is all early research. Some of it may hold up, some might not. Don’t take any of it as gospel.
partial citation needed. the republican bill definitely puts businesses first, and doesn’t do anything to address the needs of lower income people that will exist over the next several months - but: there’s nothing i can find anywhere about taxing the public bribery checks or needing to pay that money back.
democrats are suggesting people earning over 75k should pay it back. ( basically they’ve already been played on the framework and so are trying to somewhat reign it in. )
better would be a focus on aca or medicare adjustments, expansion of unemployment, food benefits, rent control and rent and mortgage support - not a mad cash give away that will last not nearly long enough to help
[edit: maybe enough republicans being sick might actually make that a reality. time will tell. so far democrats do seem to be successfully holding out. ]
And then those camps would inevitably be infected due to neglect, with obvious results. There are many historical precedents for this.
This is extremely worrying, because he may push for relaxing countermeasures so his hotels will be be able to open again and countless lives will be lost because of few stupid hotels. Other possibility is that the hotels will get unproportional amount of bailout/stimulus money.
Evil AND stupid.
