That design looks like it will produce carpal tunnel faster than it will novels… that just looks very painful to use. There’s a reason that most laptops have wide bezels under their keyboards… and honestly, if you’re typing enough to be doing a novel, a ergo keyboard is going to save you from a lot of pain…
All the more reason use it, really. Since it’s open source, it’s stupid-easy to modify to meet your specific needs. Compare that to the (more expensive) Amazon one, which has the exact same drawback without being able to be easily modified:
