Peek inside this corporate report to see how private prison companies make money from migrants in ICE concentration camps.
Why do these companies go through the charade of setting up PACs and donating to election campaigns? The SCOTUS has ruled that there’s no corruption involved in just dropping bags of money on their desks (or the equivalent) as long as nobody can prove a quid quo pro.
They don’t even have to disclose where the private “gifts” are coming from, thanks to McConnell blocking laws to require disclosure.
Taking donations from a private prison company is to be expected of the Republicans, but Cuellar should be ashamed of himself.
Plausible deniability to shareholders?
Oh, the rancid boutique that we have become.
I think you may be overestimating the moral and ethical standards of people who invest in private prisons slightly.
The Eagle Pass facility at 661 beds seems to 5 beds short of optimal capacity.
Oh, I think you are spot on, old man. They haven’t a scruple among them.
Not surprised to see Wasserman Schultz there. She also took money from the payday loan scumbags.
I’m perpetually disappointed by how cheaply Federal lawmakers can be bought. Could average people form anti-destruction-of-America PACs to buy lawmakers to pass legislation that benefit the majority of the populace? If it only takes 10 or 20 Large to buy each politician, shouldn’t we give it a try?
It’s really short term thinking on their part. A small donation now - but - just think if the prisons were run by the government - the patronage opportunities you’d have! And the supplier contracts will still keep that sweet, sweet cash rolling in gentlemen! /s
