Someone alert the SCP
I worked on a top-down shooter for a while that featured a similar kind of limited visibility to mimic the jump-scares that FPS can create. I got pretty into it, rolling up a system whereby your character was basically a light source and cast polygonal “shadows” off of obstacles that would mask out anything they covered. Then Flash disappeared, I graduated college and life happened and…I gotta learn me up some Unity.
It really sneaks up on you, doesn’t it.
